Proteomics and muscle biochemistry, multi-omics, LC-MS and FTIR metabolomics, lateral-flow diagnostics, animal stress physiology, natural bioactives, meat preservation, waste valorisation, BSF bioconversion, bioinformatics and biostatistics.
Assistant Professor / Scientist at Veterinary College, Hassan, KVAFSU, teaching undergraduate students and conducting research since August 2026.
At ICAR-IVRI, Izatnagar and ICAR-NMRI, Hyderabad (2020–2023), Dr. Prasad investigated transportation and slaughter stress, animal welfare and meat quality using proteomics and untargeted metabolomics. The work identified stress biomarkers in small ruminants and poultry and developed rapid lateral-flow diagnostic strips.
At Veterinary College, Hebbal, Bengaluru (2019–2020), his research demonstrated the use of pomelo bioactive extract to improve oxidative stability, tenderness and shelf-life of value-added spent goat meat products.
Co-PI for SCSP and cluster front-line demonstrations in oilseeds, pulses and biofortified crops supported by ICAR-ATARI, Bengaluru (2024–2026), with a combined outlay of ₹39,36,920.
Peer-reviewed work spans sustainable poultry by-product valorisation, multifunctional meat packaging, stress biomarkers, collagen hydrolysates, meat quality and animal welfare. Publications include World's Poultry Science Journal, Food Chemistry, Poultry Science and Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.
Recipient of the IMSA Dr. Karmegam Dushyanthan Best Doctoral Thesis Award and IMSA Prof. K. Sudhakar Reddy JMS Best Paper Award (2024), along with multiple oral and poster presentation awards and the ANRF International Travel Grant (2025).
Led on-farm testing and front-line demonstrations, delivered more than 25 invited expert lectures, conducted over 35 field diagnostic visits, and provided more than 389 farmer advisories.
Completed advanced training in molecular and proteomic techniques, meat processing and safety, omics technologies, bioinformatics, animal welfare, circular economy, extension methodology and related specialised workshops.
Registered practitioner, Karnataka Veterinary Council (KVC-6842); life member of the Indian Meat Science Association, All India Agricultural Students Association and Association of Meat Scientists and Technologists. Also serves in journal reviewing and editorial roles.
